Architecture |Harrison Street Residences by Dawson+Clinton

by EkiuwaJ

Before their was Journalism there was Architecture and I’d like to say that I dived head first into the art of architecture. I was thrilled by the designs, the structure, the texture and everything else. I knew that I had found the very thing I always wanted to do, well let’s just say that my heart still yearns deeply for it! I read tons of magazines and books on amazing architecture, and with each page I am inspired to build and design my future home. This design project here is from Dawson+Clinton, Genral Contracotrs who have been in the business for over 30+ years.

“…The Harrison Street project has taken them 3 years to complete, with many hurtles including, during the digging for the underground garage they found an underground stream. Through all the struggles they have completed a masterpiece in urban family living.” – Contemporist

Real Life Real Style| Roberta U. + Her Essential Wardrobe Basics

by EkiuwaJ

Roberta Ukavwe (Segaa Genesiss) is someone I consider a STYLE expert, its not from the way one dresses, but the way one pieces their items together. Her style is classic, and FUN.

Roberta’s Look:

Blouse – Niche

Necklace – H&M

Mary Rocks – Jeffery Campbell

What do you consider you wardrobe essentials/basics?
My essentials/basics changed depending on the season but theirs five items in my wardrobe that I utilize year round.

1. I think everyone needs a black blazer in their closet simply because its so versatile, you can throw it over pretty much everything and it instantaneously makes your outfit look chic. My favorite pair is from H&M, Club Monaco also has great blazers but they are pricey at least for my budget.

2. A basic white tee, you can pair these with a blazer, floral skirts or jeans. I prefer tees that are thick because you get more out of them after you wash. I love Ralph Lauren tees, you can find these for as low as 20bucks online and at stores like TJ Maxx.

3. A pair pumps. If your someone that has tons of heels get a bright color you don’t have or get a nude pair which happens to be in this season but if your have very few heels you can get invest in a black pair.

4. A little black dress, as cliche as this sounds little black dresses are lifesavers. For the most part they are never over the top and they come in some many different styles that they never get repetitive.

5. Statement jewelry. Accessories can make or break an outfit, I love statement jewelry simply because when worn properly they add the extra wow factor to an outfit. ASOS and Topshop have some great affordable pieces.

Style Guide|Solange Color Blocking DONE Right

by EkiuwaJ

I’ve seen much color blocking done lately, but Solange I’d have to say, Job well done! She took a bright neon-orange color with a subtle pastel color blue and finished it with a nude color pump + a leopard print.  Have you tried your color blocking yet? I’m excited to try mine this coming summer, trying a wide variety!
