Hair Update|So I’ve decided to rock the REAL Hair, I love it

by EkiuwaJ

Its EkiuwaJ, okay you guys so I’ve been wearing extensions for the past hmmm…3 months or so now and right before I put them in I decided to get my hair cut, I wanted a more edgy short look. This is my first REAL time rocking this cut, and I love it! My stylist/sister cut my hair into an edgy bob. After being scared to reveal my new look, I can truly say its GROWING on me! However, won’t sit here and say that I don’t miss my extensions, because I do. Oh so deeply!

Do you love it?

Interview with Fashion Designer Marie Jean Baptiste from Rue 1.0.7 ++ Photos of her Clothing and Jewelry Collection

by EkiuwaJ

EkiuwaJMagazine had the pleasure of ┬áconnecting with the Brooklyn’s own fashion designer Marie Jean Baptiste She tells EkiuwaJMagazine that her inspirations are rooted within her family’s history of designing/sewing and her desire to make her own clothing while growing up in Haiti. Unlike many other designers, her designs are based on her personal style, “The Good and The Bad” she says. In this interview you’ll get to see her Fearless designs, read about her Inspirations, and her goals 5-10 years from now.

EkiuwaJ Readers PLEASE be on the lookout for this HAUTE up and coming designer!
Her designs will leave one SPEECHLESS…
1. What inspired you to get in the fashion industry?
Well my grandmother was a seamstress, my mother sewed and growing up in Haiti, making your own clothes is a very natural, practical, day to day activity. So I think it was actually a very natural process for me to become a designer.
2. Your pieces are so unique, Where do you draw your inspirations from?
“It varies a lot! My current jewelry collection for example was inspired by a set of very simple beautifully made white and pink gold bracelets given to me by an old friend. I wanted a unique neck piece to wear with it so I started putting things together. A few months later, we had ‘Collection One’.”
3. How much of your personal style is in your brand?
“I’ve never made one thing I wouldn’t wear so it’s all based on my personal style. The good and the bad!”, She Laughs.
4. Who is the Rue 107 shopper….?
She’s bold. She might not be as confident as it appears but you’ll never know. She carries herself well but never take herself too seriously. She doesn’t mind making a grand entrance. She obviously doesn’t want to look like everybody else and appreciates a great shoe.
5. Where do you see Rue 107 5-10 years from now?
I would love to see Rue make an impact in foreign markets; attain immense commercial success; potentially become a lifestyle brand…it would be great to get listed on the New York Exchange too!
6. 5 words to describe your brand
7.What does ‘EkiuwaJMagazine’ mean to you?
I think Ekiuwa Magazine is a gem! It’s fun, vibrant, and informative. Keep up the great work!
